By entering our members only website you will be able to chat with other members, get pricing on computer components, make suggestions and get marketing ideas. Q. How does my shop qualify to become a Whiz Kid Computer Center?

A. Your experience is your qualification. We are looking for the leading computer shop in the local market. If we have contacted you this means that you were prequalified and you will be accepted once you receive and sign the licensing agreement. Q. How much will it cost to become a Whiz Kid Computer Center?

A. Your only cost to become a Whiz Kid is the license agreement. And that cost for qualifying shops is one dollar.

Q. How much training is required to become a Whiz Kid?

A. Learning about our products and services is the only training a qualified shop is required to know to become a Whiz Kid.

Q. Is there any territorial restrictions?

A. No.

Q. Is this a franchise?

A.No this is not a franchise. This is a licensing agreement giving you the ability to use the Whiz Kid name. A franchise creates many restrictions on your business. With a licensing agreement there are no restrictions other then keeping the name Whiz Kid in good standing. In other words, that you don't do anything that hurts or defames the Whiz Kid name. This could cause you to lose your license.

Q How does Whiz Kid make money?

A. Very similar to the way a Coop makes money. We will charge between 1 and 1 ½ percent for all products purchased from us. And some of that money will go to develop advertising that will be sent to you to use in your local market. Whiz Kid will also be performing a lot of the same functions of a trade association. We will be doing everything we can to strengthen the independent computer shop.

Q. Do we have to buy a minimum amount of product from Whiz Kid?

A. No. You can still purchase from us or anyone else you care to. However, it is important to remember that when you purchase from us you are helping to give our industry the power we need to compete with the big box stores and the mail order companies. Also, we ask that you be patient with our pricing structure. We are still in the membership phase of our development. It will take us about another 8 to 12 months to get the purchasing power we need to get the name type of pricing as the "big guys". In the mean time, we are able to give competitive pricing through distributors who have agreed to prices based on our current buying power. It is our goal to purchase all of our products direct, however, we need the numbers in order to get the big box pricing.

Q. What is the warranty assistance program? (optional program)

A. It is the ability to offer your customer warranty assistance at any Whiz Kid Computer Center throughout the United States. You purchase an insurance policy through us that covers the cost of standard labor charges for performing the work at any Whiz Kid Center. The policy currently cost $275.00 per year and you are covered regardless of number of warranty jobs required. However, you cannot do your own warranty repair and the work must be done by a Whiz Kid Center outside of your geographic area.

A. No. We are not asking you to change anything about the way you do business.
